Description: It’s that time in the evening, when the sun has set, the clouds have put on their show, and the first stars are beginning to shimmer through the twilight blues. It’s one of the most peaceful and tranquil moments of the day, second only to predawn, but you’re probably packing your bag to make sure you get back to the car before darkness descends. If you want to learn how to capture this beauty, and take advantage of the "silver hour", then this workshop is for you. Steve Sieren and I will be leading a workshop next Feb. with a focus on photographing static stars, star trails, light painting, and moonlight photography in Death Valley National Park: home of the spectacular and otherworldly Joshua Trees, sensual rock formations, and more. We will cover photographic technique, as well as processing methods, making use of the daylight hours to teach you the latter. In addition to our nocturnal adventures, we will take advantage of the golden hour around sunrise and sunset. Warning: due to the nature of night photography, you may experience a lack of sleep. Our midday activites will be structured to allow those that need it, a nap time.
This workshop is limited to 6 participants total. We go rain or shine - but of course, this is the desert, so rain is rare, and you should in fact be delighted if we run into some clouds, which can make night photography an even more magical experience. Price does not include transportation, food, or loding. I am happy to provide recommendations for lodging nearby, you are also welcome to join me and Steve at our campsite.
