Alaska: Creative Images From Alaska - Gates Of The Arctic National Park
Alaska is home to over 50 million acres of wilderness, 40 million of which is protected by one of the eight national parks including Glacier Bay, Gates of the Arctic, Denali, Kenai Fjords, Katmai, Kobuk Valley, Lake Clark and Wrangell-St. Elias. Each of these parks is enormous, deserving at a minimum a weeks to explore the area.
Glacier Bay National Park | Gates of the Arctic National Park
Gates of the Arctic National Park is the northern most national park, lying entirely north of the arctic circle. The majority of the park is protected as wilderness, making it part of the largest continuous wilderness area in the United States (which includes Gates of the Arctic and the adjoining Noatak Wilderness Area). The park primarily encompasses the Brooks Range, and the most common access to backcountry areas is by float plane.
