Alaska: Creative Images From Alaska - Glacier Bay National Park
Alaska is home to over 50 million acres of wilderness, 40 million of which is protected by one of the eight national parks including Glacier Bay, Gates of the Arctic, Denali, Kenai Fjords, Katmai, Kobuk Valley, Lake Clark and Wrangell-St. Elias. Each of these parks is enormous, deserving at a minimum a weeks to explore the area.
Glacier Bay National Park is home to hundreds of glaciers, 11 of which reach the ocean, and several of which are some of the few glaciers in the world that are currently advancing because of the amount of snowfall recieved by the Fairweather Mountains year-round. The majority of the park was covered in ice as recently as 300 years ago.
