In the early summer of 2009 I was lucky to have timed my visit to Minaret Lake in the narrow window when the lakes were still partially frozen over. The ice shores and floating icebergs provided the perfect chilling foreground for the setting moon and clearing thunderstorm long after sunset. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful alpine views I have had the opportunity to experience in California's Sierra Nevada. (read blog entry)
