Last year I spent some time photographing Burrowing Owls in the Salton Sea area. I got enough photos for a story which was published in the 2010 Winter issue of Living Bird Magazine. Check it out if you want to learn more about these crazy birds! Burrowing Owl Article.

    Floris, I’m sure I’ve either met you in person, or possibly seen your work elsewhere on the web; In any case, I just learned of this blog and immediately featured it on my own blog;

    Incredible stuff here, Floris. Thank you for sharing your unique point of view.

    All the best,

    Congrats on the article. I’ll check it out when my issue arrives. Odd coincidence, I’ve been following your work for some time now after seeing your Star Trails tutorial on NPN. Well, I am now living in Ithaca and started teaching the Backcountry Photography class with Jeff at COE, only to realize that you were the Floris that he kept mentioning.

    Random stuff.

    Keep up the good work.

    Hi Floris,
    great article! When I first read it some time ago, it inspired me to go and try to find and photograph some of those owls myself, and we successfully did last fall on our last trip to the US. Those birds are really crazy and it was really fun watching them 🙂 I recently put a few photos up on my website if you are interested…
    By the way, great blog with incredible photos, I frequently come back here to see what´s going on – keep up the good work 🙂
